"The Forgotten House: A Spooky Tale to Improve Your English Skills"

"The Forgotten House: A Spooky Tale to Improve Your English Skills" day 1:

The Forgotten House

In the small town of Ravenswood, a house stood forgotten at the end of a winding, overgrown path. Once majestic, its white walls were now cracked and cloaked in ivy. Locals spoke of it in hushed tones, warning curious souls to stay away. They said it was haunted—a place where shadows moved on their own and whispers filled the air.

The Dare

On a chilly October evening, Emily, a newcomer to Ravenswood, decided to explore the old house. Skeptical of ghost stories and driven by a desire to debunk the myths, she armed herself with a flashlight and a camera.

As she approached, the air grew colder, and the wind carried faint, sorrowful cries. The front door creaked open with a groan, revealing a dark, musty interior. The smell of decay filled her nostrils. Emily stepped inside, her flashlight cutting through the thick dust and cobwebs.

The Eerie Discovery

The ground floor was a maze of old furniture draped in white sheets. Her footsteps echoed through the empty rooms. In the living room, a grand piano stood with yellowed, dust-covered keys. Emily hesitated, then noticed the piano keys moving on their own, producing a chilling melody that hung in the air.

Undeterred, she continued upstairs. The narrow staircase groaned under her weight. The second floor was more unsettling, with peeling wallpaper and a heavy silence that seemed to press in on her.

The Haunting Revelation

In one of the bedrooms, Emily found an old rocking chair facing a dusty, long-abandoned crib. The chair began to rock slowly as she entered, despite the absence of any breeze. She felt a shiver down her spine but pressed on.

Entering the attic, the temperature dropped significantly. Her flashlight flickered, casting long, wavering shadows. In the dim light, she saw an old, ornate mirror covered with a heavy cloth. As she approached and removed the cloth, her breath caught in her throat.

Reflected in the mirror was not just her terrified face but a shadowy figure standing behind her. The figure had hollow eyes and a mouth twisted in a silent scream. Emily spun around, but the attic was empty.

The Escape

Heart pounding, she fled the house. Her flashlight cast frantic beams as she raced down the stairs and out into the night. The door slammed shut behind her with a deafening bang, as if the house itself were locking her out.

Emily never returned to Ravenswood’s forgotten house. She left the town and spoke little of her experience. However, the legend of the house grew. Locals continued to warn others of the haunted dwelling at the end of the path, claiming that Emily’s photos, if ever found, showed nothing but darkness—and the reflection of something far more sinister.
